MILAN. Almost three weeks after the death of Sharon Verzeni, efforts are being made to rewind the tape, to start from the beginning. The family members are being interviewed again in a calmer setting, to dig deeper into the private life, the relationship of the 33-year-old bartender with her partner Sergio Ruocco, her habits, friendships, acquaintances, work, and passions. In search of a remark, a word, even a tiny piece of information: a clue that could allow investigators to unravel the mystery of the murder in Terno d’Isola. The four stab wounds to the chest and back that, on the night between July 29 and 30, killed Sharon on Via Castegnate, a stone’s throw from the square of the small town of eight thousand inhabitants in the Bergamasca, came after a fifty-minute nighttime walk, recommended by the dietitian to lose weight.

For this reason, yesterday afternoon the victim’s older sister, Melody, 35, along with her partner Stefano Campana, and brother Cristopher, 23, were summoned once again to the offices of the provincial carabinieri command in Bergamo. Shortly after 2:30 PM, by car, they crossed the threshold of the gate and left at almost nine in the evening. Today, instead, the parents, Bruno and Maria Teresa, will be re-interviewed.

The investigations coordinated by prosecutor Emanuele Marchisio are ongoing and no leads are being ruled out, as the Violent Crimes unit of the Carabinieri’s Ros is working to identify the twenty “ghosts” currently nameless who passed under the sixty cameras that investigators are analyzing along the route taken by the woman that night, and even beyond. This is a lengthy process, in the hope that sooner or later, someone who saw or heard something will break the wall of silence and decide to come forward. Genetic testing is also ongoing: about forty DNA samples have been collected by investigators since the beginning of the inquiry, awaiting the results of the forensic tests on the body and clothes of the victim.

Last week, the Carabinieri had again summoned the boyfriend, Sergio Ruocco, who was interviewed for five hours at the barracks. When investigators arrived the night of the murder, he was at home sleeping. His alibi has also been confirmed by the cameras at the entrance of the house. Sharon was very reserved. From what little has leaked, their relationship was stable and they were planning to get married in 2025.
