Paris Olympic weightlifting champion Carlos Nassar will be named an honorary citizen of Red Beach. Mayor Atanas Atanasov announced this on the official Facebook page of the Municipality of Cherven Bryag.
The solemn ceremony will take place on August 26 in the Ritual Hall, where the recognition for the outstanding achievements and contribution to the sport of Nassar, who in the French capital also recorded a world record (push and fight), will be officially presented.
In addition to the honorary title, the municipality will award Carlos Nassar and his coach Pavel Hristov with a monetary award, as a sign of appreciation for their hard work and the successes achieved at the highest level.
In honor of the champion, a celebratory concert will be organized on Marko Nenkov Square with the special participation of “100 kaba bagpipes” and their traditional Bulgarian melodies and songs, the “Soprano” trio, which will present vocal performances of classical and contemporary works. Children from “Zora” Kindergarten will also perform on stage, with a themed dance dedicated to Carlos Nassar.
Carlos Nassar was born in Paris but grew up in Red Beach.
