The fifth-seeded Latvian national team lost to France (4th) 15:21 in the final match of Group D.
Lacis stood out with nine points and five rebounds, Gluditis collected four points and three rebounds, Apsitis scored two points, and Raimo had three rebounds.
Frank Segela and Rafael Wilson scored eight points each for the French team.
It has already been reported that in the first match the Latvians lost to Great Britain (12th) with 20:21, while the French beat Great Britain with 22:14.
France took the first place in Group D, while Great Britain took the second place, the owners of the first two places entered the quarter-finals, while Latvia ranked third.
The Latvian 3×3 women’s basketball team, which includes Marta Leimane, Paula Mauriņa, Marta Mishčenko and Ketija Vihmane, will start the tournament on Friday. Latvian basketball players are seeded 12th in the European Cup and will compete with the Netherlands (5th) and Hungary (4th) in the subgroup.
In both the women’s and men’s tournaments, 12 teams are divided into four subgroups, from which the top two winners of each group reach the quarterfinals.
The European Cup in Vienna will take place until August 25.
Since 2017, Latvia has been regularly represented in the men’s European Cup finals, skipping only 2021. Medals have been won four times – gold in 2017, silver in 2018 and 2022, and bronze in 2023. The Latvian women’s national team last played in the finals of the European Cup in 2019, when they won bronze medals.
