/ US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday that he recently met French President Francois Mitterrand, who died 30 years ago, in one of his frequent slips of the tongue.
Speaking to a crowd in Las Vegas, Nevada, Biden spoke about his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron during the G7 meeting in England, a few months after Biden took office in the White House.
“I sat down and said, ‘America is back,’” Biden recalled. “And Mitterrand looked at me from Germany — I mean, from France — and said…” Biden seemed lost in thought before collecting his thoughts and finishing the sentence with, “Well, how long will you be back?” “The German chancellor asked me how I — and by extension the United States — would react if thousands of people, hypothetically, stormed the British House of Commons and killed two British police officers, to stop the election of the prime minister.”
