Acting Chairman of BNP Tariq Rahman urged not to look at political or religious identity while helping the flood victims. He made this call to the party leaders and workers in a video message on Friday (August 23) night.
Tariq Rahman said, you stand together with the people of flood-affected areas. Extend a helping hand to them. Provide and arrange food, clothing, medical and medical assistance for people in flood affected areas.
Addressing the leaders and activists, he said, I would urge you to be careful that the dictatorship that fled the country created violence, conflict and division among people in the country. But, an earnest request to you, please do not prioritize anyone’s political and religious identity in humanitarian aid. At the same time, apart from personal and party initiatives, if the government and administration want any help from you to help the flood victims, please extend your hand of help as much as possible.
The Acting Chairman of BNP said, “If we stand unitedly by the side of the flood-affected people, regardless of party affiliation, come forward to help the people in danger as much as we can, we will definitely be able to deal with this situation by the grace of God.”
He said that millions of people have been trapped in water in the northeastern and southeastern parts of the country due to sudden flash floods. As district after district in the eastern region is flooded, lakhs of people are forced to live a life without humanity. Property has been damaged. A few people have already lost their lives. People’s life has been disrupted due to severe floods.
Blaming India for this sudden flood in the country, Tariq Rahman said that this flood in Bangladesh is not caused by any reason inside the country. Heavy rains in the flood prone areas are not the main cause of the floods in the east. Rather, the main cause of this flood is the irresponsibility and capriciousness of the Tripura state administration in neighboring India. They suddenly opened the dam and submerged a large area of Bangladesh, but they did not give any advance warning to Bangladesh even for a single time. As a result, Bangladesh did not even get a chance to take reasonable preparations to deal with the flood even after a large area was inundated.
The people of the flood-affected areas are now desperately helpless, Tariq Rahman said. BNP believes that protecting the lives and property of flood affected people is the main priority at the moment. In the flood situation of the country, I would like to appeal to the leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliates and affiliated organizations in the entire country, especially in the areas that have not been affected yet, to stand by the flood-affected people and extend a helping hand. Stand by their safety.
