On the 22nd, Paju City held the ‘Paju RE100 Day’ at Paju City Hall and Paju Bongseo Hydrogen Charging Station to mark the 21st Energy Day (August 22).
This event consisted of various programs for each time zone so that Paju citizens and Paju city employees could recognize the need for RE100 and experience renewable energy in their daily lives.
In the morning, the ‘Children’s RE100 Classroom’ was held at the Paju City Hall Daycare Center. Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City, who participated in the event, explained to the children the importance of renewable energy and the role of RE100 for future generations, and had them create a hydroelectric power generator experience kit together, and had time to reflect on the meaning of Energy Day.
During lunch time, ‘RE100 experience activities’ such as ▲making watermelon juice using a bicycle generator ▲cooking experience with a solar oven ▲exhibition of solar-powered household goods ▲RE100 promotion were held for employees on the first floor of the Paju City Hall Welfare Building.
The Paju Bongseo Hydrogen Charging Station, which is about to open for official operation, also held a ‘Hydrogen Charging Station Energy Free Day’ on the 22nd. The operator, Kohaizen Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Se-ho), held a free charging event for visitors to the hydrogen charging station, and the cooperative organization, Paju Nonghyup (Chairman Gu Seon-hoe), is holding a special sale of ‘Challenge Savings’ with preferential interest rates.
The event concluded with participation in the ‘5-minute lights-out event’ hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Energy Citizens’ Coalition at 9 p.m.
Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju City said, “It is meaningful to celebrate Energy Day with our children,” and added, “Paju City is the first local government in the country to enact the RE100 ordinance and establish the ‘RE100 Support Team,’ so we will do our best to work toward a sustainable future for our children.”
