The Iraqi team heads to Qatar with “high readiness and morale”

/ The media coordinator of the Iraqi national team confirmed, on Thursday, that the team delegation will leave Abu Dhabi, UAE, this afternoon, heading to the Qatari capital, Doha, to participate in the Asian Championship.

Mohammed Imad told Agency, “The plane will take off at exactly 12:00 noon, with the presence of the Iraqi mission.”

He added, “The entire team is ready and there are no injuries among the Iraqi national team players. They are all in high spirits and ready for the continental competitions scheduled to start tomorrow, Friday.”

He explained that “the team prepared perfectly for the tournament under the supervision of the Spanish coaching staff and the presence of the Federation President Adnan Darjal, whose presence was very positive by raising the players’ morale. He met with the national team players at his residence in the UAE capital, Abu Dhabi, before heading to Qatar.”

Darjal was quoted as stressing “the importance of entering into a real competitive atmosphere with discipline and commitment in performing the duties they receive from the coach.”

Imad pointed out that “the team will play its first match at the start of their journey in the tournament next Monday against the Indonesian team.”

The draw for the Asian teams in Qatar placed the Iraqi team in Group Four, alongside Vietnam, Indonesia and Japan.

The tournament will be held with the participation of 24 teams, divided into 6 groups, each group containing 4 teams. The first and second places in each group will qualify, in addition to the best 4 teams in third place.
