Voting for the fifth phase of elections to 61 assembly constituencies in 12 districts of Lucknow-Uttar Pradesh was in full swing yesterday.

Uttar Pradesh is ruled by the BJP led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The state assembly elections will be held in seven phases from February 10 to March 7. With the completion of four phases of polling, the fifth phase of polling took place yesterday. Of these, polling took place yesterday for 61 assembly constituencies in 12 districts. In all, 2.24 crore voters were eligible to vote as 692 candidates contested in the constituency.

BJP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya is contesting from Shirat Assembly constituency in Kaushambi district where the turnout was 55 per cent.
