The National Directorate of Consumer Rights Protection is conducting a campaign to stabilize the prices and normal supply of relief items, especially clothes, chira, jaggery, etc. for distribution in the flood-affected areas.
On Saturday (August 24) in the capital’s caravan market to ensure the supply of relief goods and to keep the price stable, the assistant director of the Dhaka divisional office of the directorate said. Abdus Salam led this campaign.
At this time, he said, there are allegations that some unscrupulous traders have increased the price of dry food such as muri, chira, jaggery etc., taking advantage of the unfavorable natural environment. This is why the operation is going on.
He also said that 2 companies have been fined 10 thousand taka in total 20 thousand taka in the operation conducted in caravan market today.
Apart from this, an establishment has been declared temporarily closed for the crime of selling sugarcane molasses mixed with sugar, hydrogen and baking soda.
It is said that such activities of the Directorate will continue in public interest.
