The Ukrainian delegation for talks with Russia has reached the border with Belarus, where negotiations will take place. Talks are likely to begin soon.

The Office of the President of Ukraine stated that the main issues in the negotiations are an immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of Russian forces from Ukraine.

Because of the invasion of Ukraine: another blow to Russia

As you may recall, yesterday the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zlansky released a short video in which he referred to the negotiations with Russia on a ceasefire.

“I do not believe in the success of the peace talks with Russia in Belarus, but I am willing to try,” Zlansky said.

Lukashenko evening to the sides

The Ukrainians agreed to talks on the border between the countries, this after refusing to accept the Russians’ offer to hold talks inside Belarus itself, because the Russians are attacking from the country. The Ukrainians demanded that the talks be held in a neutral location. After Zalanski’s conversation with Belarusian President Lukashenko, the parties reached an agreement, with Lukashenko assuring that no attacks would be made from the country during the talks.

Despite this, missiles fired from the country were reported yesterday, and today there is concern that the Belarusian army may be preparing to join the fighting.

Real negotiations or an excuse?

According to many estimates in the West, Putin does not really intend to hold real negotiations, but only wants to bring down the “failure of dialogue” on Ukraine and justify the continuation of hostilities. In the way he wanted, as the Russian army struggled to advance rapidly against the backdrop of fierce Ukrainian resistance, and began to suffer heavy losses.
