Even when he is on vacation, the Bulgarian spends his money as in his daily life.

Almost 2/3 of the expenses go to hotel and food, according to the latest NSI data for the second quarter of the year. Adding in the money for transportation, it turns out that less than 10% of the vacation budget goes to entertainment.

The distribution of expenses in everyday life is identical – more than half goes to food and housing, and less than 4 percent of the money is spent on entertainment.

However, when traveling abroad, Bulgarians spend more money to see sights and have fun – more than 22% of the budget. On the other hand, he is more frugal with accommodation – 17% of the money goes to a hotel.

During vacation, the average expenditure per person in Bulgaria was BGN 292.20 in the second quarter. It has increased by nearly 30% in a year. An average of BGN 846.41 per person is spent abroad. Here the growth is far more modest and below 5% on an annual basis. According to the data of the national statistics, in the second quarter of the year, 1.2 million Bulgarians went on tourist trips. The majority of them – 71.3% – were only in the country. On an annual basis, the number of people who went on vacation or excursion increased by 3.1%.

Bulgarians between the ages of 45 and 64 travel the most. They rest mainly in our country, and 77.2% of pensioners over 65 never went abroad at all.

Young people – between 15 and 24 years old, prefer to travel abroad – their group is the largest of those who went abroad.
