The concert with Ema Stokholma returns to Rai 3 and Rai Radio 2 from Melpignano
The Salento region is preparing to resonate stronger than ever with the return of the Notte della Taranta 2024, the music festival that has captivated audiences for over twenty years with its blend of tradition and modernity. This evening, Saturday, August 24, 2024, Melpignano will once again transform into the stage for one of the most awaited shows of the Italian summer. Directed by master conductor Shablo, the 27th edition of the Concertone will be broadcast live on Rai 3 and Rai Radio 2 starting at 9:20 PM, hosted by Ema Stokholma.
The Notte della Taranta 2024
—
The 2024 edition of the Notte della Taranta aims to celebrate the new generations who have made Salento’s tradition a fundamental element of their identity. With the theme “Taranta Generation”, this year’s concert tells the story of an entire generation that, raised on a diet of Taranta, has managed to blend traditional sounds with contemporary ones, creating a bridge between past and future. Adding to the special nature of this edition is the collaboration of the young pianist and composer Riccardo Zangirolami, an emerging talent who, at just 23, has already conducted the Hollywood Studio Symphony Orchestra.
The master conductor Shablo

The orchestra will be led by Shablo, the visionary Italian-Argentine producer capable of traversing and merging seemingly distant musical genres. “The Notte della Taranta is a unique opportunity to explore new forms of musical expression,” Shablo stated, emphasizing how the festival serves as a perfect platform to experiment with a bit of soul, trap, rap and electronic intertwined. “I want to take the audience on a journey through sound worlds, while always keeping the pulsating heart of Salento’s tradition alive,” he added.
The guests
—
On stage will be some of the most interesting names in the Italian music scene, ready to transform tradition with more modern sounds. Among the guests is Angelina Mango, the revelation artist of 2024. But the surprises don’t stop there. Shablo has in store for the audience a musical journey that will range from the most traditional pizzica to contemporary sounds, including references to great composers like Morricone and Piazzolla. Completing the picture will be choreographies by Laccio, songs in Salentino dialect, Griko, and Arbëreshë, as well as the magical atmospheres of Salento. For the occasion, 150,000 spectators from around the world are expected.
Highly anticipated are also the singers who have been making headlines this summer, namely Gaia (fresh from the success of Sesso e samba with Tony Effe), Geolier (notable for his concerts and his love story with Chiara Frattesi) and the talented Ste.
