Hwasun-gun is holding a “Life-Enjoying Event” to commemorate Suicide Prevention Day. Hwasun-gun (Governor Gu Bok-gyu) announced on the 27th that it will hold a “Life-Enjoying Event” through the Hwasun Dolmen Traditional Market and Hwasun-gun Mental Health Welfare Center homepages to commemorate the week of “World Suicide Prevention Day” (September 10).

According to data from the Korea Life Respect Hope Foundation and Statistics Korea, the number of suicide deaths in Korea in 2022 was 12,906 per 100,000 people, or an average of 35.4 people dying from suicide per day.

To commemorate World Suicide Prevention Day, Hwasun-gun Mental Health Welfare Center (Director Kim Gyeong-hwan) is holding an event to inform local residents of the preciousness of life and help them find a reason to live.

On Tuesday, September 3rd, from 9 AM to 12 PM, at the entrance of the Hwasun Dolmen Traditional Market, various experiences and correct information will be provided, such as ▶Suicide Prevention True or False Quiz ▶Finding Out My Mental Health Levels ▶Life Love Dance Challenge ▶Writing Messages That Give Me Strength.

Also, from Tuesday, September 10th, which is Suicide Prevention Day, to Wednesday, September 18th, which is the Chuseok holiday, a comment event titled “That’s why I find life worth living” will be held on the Hwasun-gun Mental Health Welfare Center website under the theme of “Finding the Reason for My Life.”

Through the lively comment event, we will find the reason why we should live, and in addition, the first 100 people will be given a coffee gift certificate, so it is expected to be a time of small happiness.

Park Mira, director of the public health center, said, “I hope that this ‘Suicide Prevention Day’ will be an opportunity to cherish life through various experiential events and online events.”

Hwasun-gun Mental Health Welfare Center is operated under contract by Boeun Hospital, and provides various services for the mental health of local residents, including: △counseling by a mental health specialist, △case management services for the severely mentally disabled, △mental health education by life cycle, △operation of a mobile counseling center, and △suicide prevention projects.
