The Inveat system is a breath of fresh air for the SNS technology park, but there are still many ‘small’ applications (mostly used) years of accumulated life.
Mammograms, conventional radio equipment, flexible endoscopes … Many are small equipment left from the Inveat Program and are “now exhausted” according to Fenin, during the presentation of the report. Clinical Technology Profile: proposals for the innovation of health technologieswhich Fenin has been developing for years and which, finally, presents a nice map on the inequality of technology in Spain thanks to the aforementioned plan.
Inveat allows “now 60% of the equipment to be less than five years old,” according to Francisco Vázquez, president of Fenin’s TySIC Department. For this reason, he noted that “now the focus of investments should be placed on those that are over ten years old and on those that are left behind.”
Therefore, Inveat works to renew and improve people’s access to great equipment, such as magnetic resonance imaging (65% less than ten years old) and tomographs (only 20% of CT scans and 26% of PET scans pass all ten). However, according to Fenin’s report, in conventional radio only 25% of equipment is less than five years old, and up to 66% is more than ten years old. Of these, about half are manual. For their part, 76% of mammographers have more than five years. In the case of ultrasound devices, 43% are less than five years old, but their useful life is short.
AMAT-I, important, but not enough
With the aim of improving this situation, the Ingesa Strategic Agreement Program for Advanced Health Technology Equipment (AMAT-I Program) was born, which has six strategic agreements to renew photographers, photographers and ultrasound machines in the SNS . It has a budget of 266,751,822 euros, which will allow contracts to be established for the acquisition of new technology during this year.
These agreements, approved by the Council of Ministers, represent an important injection into the SNS technological park, but “perhaps not enough,” says Milagros Otero, president of the Spanish Association of Medical Radiology (Seram). JGS.
