According to Zelensky, the offensive in the Kursk region is one of the points of this plan, and also indicated that the offensive has slowed down the advance of Russian forces in the direction of Pokrovsk.
According to Zelensky, the plan also includes additional steps on the diplomatic and economic fronts, including a strong set of measures to force Russia to end the war diplomatically.
Zelensky stressed that Russia aims to occupy and annex territories of other countries and has already occupied 27% of Ukraine’s territory, while Ukraine has no plans to annex territories, and the Kursk operation is a defensive operation aimed at preventing Russia from seizing more Ukrainian territories.
“We are not adding anything to our country, we are not changing the legislation and the constitution. We do not need unnecessary foreign lands. And we do not need foreign citizens either,” said the Ukrainian president.
As Zelensky pointed out, the defense operation and the creation of buffer zones on the territory of the Russian Federation are aimed at preventing the occupation of Ukrainian land.
He also said that he could meet US President Joe Biden in September, possibly within the framework of the UN General Assembly.
