Prosecutorial intervention regarding the dead fish in Pagasitikos

An urgent preliminary investigation has been ordered ex officio by the head of the Volos Prosecutor’s Office regarding the dead fish from Lake Karla that are ending up in Pagasitikos.

The prosecutorial investigation, which has been assigned to the Central Port Authority of Volos, will examine the quality of the seawater, measurements in accredited laboratories, the microbial load at the outlets of Lake Karla, as well as whether there is pollution and the cause of the fish deaths and if it is due to a toxic substance.

As part of the prosecutorial investigation, the Port Authority will gather data from the Regional Authority and the Municipality of Volos regarding the beaches of Anavros, Alykes, and N. Anchialos near the Urban Planning Complex, as well as whether there is a correlation of the phenomenon with the Regional Authority and the Municipality of Volos.

The investigation will be conducted by the Central Port Authority of Volos and will be supervised by a deputy prosecutor.
