Although resigned, the until recently chairperson of the party gave powers of attorney to the deputies Georgi Svilenski and Ivan Chenchev to register the party
There is a risk that the BSP will not be able to participate in the elections.
This warned Kornelia Ninova, who resigned as party chairman after the elections in June. For more than 2 months, the dramas in the leadership of the Socialists have been going on, after the National Council nominated its then deputy Atanas Zafirov as temporary leader.
On July 10, the Sofia City Court deleted Kornelia Ninova as the chairman of the BSP and a person representing the party, but refused to register Zafirov as the new chairman of the centenary. According to the court decision, Zafirov will be the acting chairman until the BSP congress is held.
Former race car driver Krum Donchev, who is a member of the party’s National Council, appealed the decision of the SGS, which led to a series of skirmishes between supporters of Ninova on the one hand and those around Zafirov.
The deputy warned that the temporary leadership will not have time to register with the court. “They don’t even have the legitimacy to do so, since according to the current situation, I am still representing her as the resigned chairman,” insisted Ninova. According to her, a congress should have been quickly convened to confirm her resignation.
The registration of the parties for the elections is on the 11th, and the case in the Supreme Court is on the 9th of September, and no matter what happens, the interim leadership will not have legitimacy.
“There is a risk that the BSP will not be able to participate in the elections. That is why we are taking measures that are necessary, both according to the law and the Election Code, to guarantee the party full participation in the elections. Yesterday I gave a power of attorney with full rights to Ivan Chenchev and Georgi Svilenski – they should lead this process of party registration, list registration, line-up, etc.,” Ninova announced in front of the “Positano” 20 headquarters.
However, he said that as a retired chairman, I will not participate in these processes. Everyone should calm down a bit, let the speculations and intrigues stop, she said. And forwarded all possible questions to Chenchev and Svilensky. He does not believe that there will be a split in the party.
Ninova assured that they will respect the decisions of the National Council to have a coalition.
“There is no way that the BSP will end up with two lists, because the only person who can register it is me, and through this power of attorney, Georgi and Ivan are already there,” she insisted. When stacking sheets, agreement would be sought to comply with both the law and the statute.
Earlier today, Ninova published on social networks her question to the Minister of Justice Maria Pavlova in connection with the party subsidy.
“In front of the National Council and in numerous interviews, Gutsanov (Borislav), Zafirov and Vigenin (Kristian) stated that I am stopping the receipt of subsidies, that I am blocking the party and because of me it cannot function normally.
The answer reads: BSP did not receive a subsidy because the new leadership did not submit an application to the ministry until 15.08. From 15.06. until August 15, two months after my resignation, they did not lift a finger, but lied that Cornelia was to blame and that the party was languishing without a subsidy,” she also wrote.
