Exes Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers are on the move.
The former couple revealed in separate Instagram posts Tuesday that they are each moving to new homes over a year after their divorce was made final.
Hammer, 38, told his followers in a video that he got a new apartment in Los Angeles.
The disgraced actor also shared that he has to sell his truck because he cannot afford gas prices in California.
“Since being back in LA, I have put about four or five hundred dollars worth of gas in it, and I can’t afford it. I can’t afford the gas anymore,” said Hammer, whose career plummeted after he was accused of sexual assault, physical abuse and cannibalistic fantasies in 2021.
Chambers, 42, posted a video inside her home and shared it to her Instagram Story, revealing that she’s in the process of moving again with her and Hammer’s two children, daughter Harper, 9, and son Ford, 7.
“Packing and moving my kids and me for the fifth time in almost 5 years,” the TV personality wrote.
“Beyond grateful for my lai, my extraordinary bf, and for these extraordinary people (jojordan10 not pictured bc she’s handling business @birdbakery,” she also wrote.
Chambers didn’t refer to her boyfriend, Ricardas Kazinec, by name in her post. The couple met in the Cayman Islands, where Chambers has been living since the start of the pandemic. Hammer also lived in the Cayman Islands after his scandal broke.
Hammer and Chambers separated in 2020. The following year, Hammer faced accusations of emotional abuse, cannibalistic fetishism and being into BDSM sex and role-play.
The backlash prompted the “Call Me By Your Name” actor to retreat from the spotlight, as he was dropped by his agent, publicist and other members of his team.
At the time, Chambers publicly showed support for Hammer.
“I support Armie through his journey and I always will,” she said in a February 2021 Instagram post. “All I’ve ever wanted is for him to be sober, healthy, and happy. And he is that. He’s really present when he’s with the kids, and that’s all I can hope for. All you want is for your children to have two solid parents, right? That’s always the goal, so anything I can do to support that, I will.”
Chambers later addressed her ex’s scandal in a 2023 interview with Elle, revealing that she learned about the accusations against him in real time like everyone else.
“I was like, ‘There are no words. What the f–k?’” she said.
Last year, the LA County District Attorney’s Office confirmed last year that Hammer would not be charged with sexual assault.
The “Death on the Nile” star opened up about the scandal when he appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored,” and confirmed that he cheated on Chambers with multiple partners during their marriage.
“It was a dark time. It was a dark, painful time,” Hammer said. “It’s also something that I have to accept is on me. I had an affair on my wife. Obviously, I’m not the first person in the history of Hollywood to do that, but I did it, and it’s less than becoming behavior that I have to own.”
Hammer also shared that he had to undergo a psycho-legal evaluation during the former couple’s custody battle.
Earlier this year, Chambers appeared on the reality show “Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise” and said that her kids “have no idea” about what’s transpired with their father.
“My children are visibly happy. They should think that their dad is a superhero,” she said. “And to be fair, he has been to them. He’s been the best he can be.”
Chambers noted that she doesn’t “speak negatively” about Hammer in the press because she doesn’t want her kids to have “daddy issues.”
Future Trends in Celebrity Life Transitions
The recent life changes of actors Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers highlight a growing trend in how public figures navigate personal upheavals, particularly divorce and the transitions that follow. As more celebrities openly share their journeys through social media platforms, fans are witnessing an unprecedented level of vulnerability and authenticity.
One notable trend is the increasing emphasis on mental health and emotional well-being among celebrities. With Hammer openly discussing his struggles post-scandal and Chambers prioritizing a healthy environment for their children, it signals a shift towards transparency in the face of adversity. This acceptance could foster greater awareness and support for mental health issues among both fans and public figures alike.
Additionally, the frequent relocations by public figures—like Chambers moving with her children for the fifth time in five years—point towards a new norm where flexibility in terms of residence and lifestyle is becoming the standard. As remote work and digital nomadism gain traction, celebrities may increasingly adopt more transient lifestyles, giving them the ability to reinvent themselves and adapt to changing circumstances and public perceptions.
Another trend is the increasingly complex relationship dynamics in celebrity culture. With both parties moving on from their past lives while maintaining co-parenting routines, there is potential for a redefining of modern family structures. Their ability to co-exist while pursuing new relationships emphasizes a more cooperative and amicable approach to family life, which could inspire their followers to navigate similar situations with grace.
Finally, the rise of Instagram and other social media platforms as critical channels for personal expression among celebrities indicates that the paradigm of celebrity influence is shifting. As these public figures leverage their platforms to share intimate moments and significant life changes, fans are drawn into a more participatory culture where they can engage directly with their favorite stars while grappling with universal themes such as love, loss, and resilience.
