The Thessaloniki Metro will be delivered to the citizens of Thessaloniki on November 30, 2024, announced Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his speech at the event titled: “National Strategy for Regional Development / Presentation of Digital Platform erga.gov.gr“.
“After many inaugurations that were not really inaugurations, after curtains, presentations, and doubts I am pleased to announce that the Thessaloniki Metro will be delivered – it will not be inaugurated, it will be delivered – to the citizens on November 30, 2024“, said the Prime Minister to applause.
Additionally, regarding the Flyover road axis, he emphasized that the goal is to be delivered in the Spring of 2027, before the parliamentary elections.

“Thessaloniki is changing. It is changing at a very rapid pace. No government has implemented more projects for Thessaloniki than this government. And this is something that, I believe, the citizens of Thessaloniki are starting to realize.”, the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, pointed out in his speech.
“I completely understand the skepticism and hesitation regarding commitments that the citizens of Thessaloniki have heard many times; however, the reality has always been different. Here, I believe we have moved beyond the practices of the past, we have proven that what we say we can implement within specific timelines.”, said the Prime Minister, adding that the detailed data presented by the relevant ministers regarding projects in Thessaloniki and Central Macedonia prove his point.
Mr. Mitsotakis specifically referred to health issues and noted that “Thessaloniki will have the most modern cancer hospital and the most modern pediatric hospital within the next four years.”

The interventions being made by the Recovery Fund in all our health infrastructures, in Emergency Departments, in Health Centers, we have never had such a recovery plan for the infrastructures of the NHS, as the one being implemented by this government,” he emphasized.
Mr. Mitsotakis spoke about the importance of regional convergence being achieved through the national strategy for regional development and emphasized that with the Digital Platform erga.gov.gr, through which anyone can monitor the progress of projects and the consultation, accountability, prioritization, and effectiveness are ensured.
