The construction of Goheung County Sky Park is progressing smoothly. Goheung County (Governor Gong Yeong-min) announced on the 28th that the ‘Goheung County Sky Park Construction Project’, one of the long-awaited projects, is currently progressing smoothly toward the 20% completion rate.

Goheung County Sky Park will be built on an area of 57,679㎡ with a total project cost of 19.8 billion won (35 billion won from the national government, 4 billion won from the provincial government, and 15.9 billion won from the county government). It will include 8,500 burial sites, 1,883 natural burial sites, a yutaek park, and parking lots, among other convenient facilities.

The Bongandang will be a two-story building with a total area of 2,943㎡, including a memorial hall, cyber memorial hall, office, and bonandang. The grass-type natural burial ground will be built on an area of 3,477㎡, and is scheduled for completion in June 2025, and is scheduled to open to the public in January 2026.

Currently, the Goheung County Sky Park development project has completed the pile construction that will form the foundation of the Bongandang building after the site preparation, and plans to complete the building’s frame construction by the end of this year.

On the 26th, Governor Gong Yeong-min confirmed and inspected the progress of the project and the scheduled process through a field executive meeting, and requested, “Please pay special attention and make efforts to complete the project so that it can proceed without a hitch.”

A military official said, “We will work to ensure that Goheung County Sky Park is not just a place to simply commemorate, but a place where families can miss the deceased and be comfortably comforted.”

Meanwhile, the target of use and usage fees will be determined through the enactment of the ‘Goheung County Sky Park Operation Ordinance’ in the second half of this year, and the plan is to reduce the inconvenience and economic burden of having to use other regional memorial parks by calculating appropriate usage fees.
