(Nettavisen): TV host and personality Henriette Bruusgaard (42) met her ex-boyfriend in 2013, and only two years later they had their first child together.
Today, they have a six-year-old daughter and an eight-year-old son together. However, the former couple chose to end their relationship in the middle of the pandemic.

In a new podcast episode of “Chit Chat with Helle” with Helle Nordby (29), Bruusgaard opens up about the breakup, and she does not hide the fact that it was a difficult period in her life.
– Underestimated their different lives
Initially, Bruusgaard explains that she and her ex-boyfriend lived two entirely different lives, and that they both realized it eventually became challenging for the relationship.
– I think the reason we broke up is that I took perhaps a slightly too big “turn.” I thought that all I wanted was kindness, goodness, security, and family. He had nothing to do with the world of culture and probably didn’t quite understand the kind of life I had lived. I think both he and I underestimated the different lives we had, Bruusgaard says in the podcast.
Bruusgaard further emphasizes that it has been a long process, and that nothing dramatic happened overnight. Still, she admits that it was a difficult time.
– It was a huge defeat and incredibly sad. We both had to go through that process. I care for him a lot, so it became a long process that we probably extended because we thought it was so sad to lose each other and that family situation. There’s no right answer to this, so we decided to be very good friends.
Bruusgaard has previously hosted “All for Norway” for six seasons, and she has had some minor acting roles.

Fell ill
Bruusgaard further recounts that the breakup happened in the middle of the pandemic, and that she at the same time found herself in an uncertain job situation.
– Then the pandemic came, and we were going through this breakup. That’s when I got sick and depressed. There’s a lot that happened then that I could have told, but it would be too much. At that point, I felt that I couldn’t handle this. I was very low, really low, she shares candidly in the podcast.
She further explains that she visited a psychologist during this time, but that she doesn’t remember all the details from that period.
In addition, she can share that she was constantly trying to focus on the children.
During the holiday season, the host also shared the news that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The 42-year-old shared the cancer diagnosis on her own Instagram profile and has since been open about what life with the illness is like.
Bruusgaard has recently undergone chemotherapy treatment, and as a result of that, she lost her hair.

Being under cancer treatment comes with many strains, something Bruusgaard recently experienced when she had a breakdown during Easter.
– My first little “breakdown” happened at Easter. Anything else would have been strange, my friends and family believe, writes the 42-year-old in a candid Instagram post.
