The adoption of artificial intelligence (AI)-based technologies in Germany’s economy has stalled. This is according to the results of a study by the influential institute Center for European Economic Research Zet E We (ZEW), conducted on behalf of the German Ministry of Economy, DPA reported.
Only 11.6 percent of German companies used AI technologies in 2023. This represents an increase of 1 percentage point compared to 2021. These data are “surprising” given the growing popularity of generative artificial intelligence platforms, including the ChatGPT chatbot, the study’s authors said.
However, the share of companies in Germany using AI is higher than the EU average (8 percent). However, the Federal Republic lags behind a number of EU countries on this indicator, including Denmark, Finland, Belgium and the Netherlands, writes BTA.
German companies in the consulting and business services sectors performed best. They are among the leaders in the European Union in terms of the use of technologies based on artificial intelligence.
