Cross the Alps on foot, why not, then, to each of them. Running in person already complicates things a little, but then going on as many peaks at 4,000 m altitude as possible is insane. And guess who is behind this project “Alpine Connections”…? Kilian Jornet UFO, of course. Last summer, he climbed the Pyrenees chain in eight days: 486 km to connect 177 peaks at more than 3,000 m altitude with a total of 43,000 m of positive height difference.
Good, but not enough. So this summer he stepped it up a notch. Taller, harder, longer. In two weeks, he has climbed 54 peaks in 174 hours of effort. “It is a logical continuation of what you want to do,” we were told from the side of the organization, “to overcome yourself with the environmental dimension as the bottom line.”
