The Head of Government represents HM the King at the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Landing in Provence
Saint-Raphaël (South-East) – The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, represented His Majesty King Mohammed VI, at the commemoration ceremony of the 80th anniversary of the Landing of Provence, which took place Thursday in Saint-Raphaël (South-East), under the presidency of the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron.
The Head of Government was accompanied during this ceremony, which took place at the national necropolis of Boulouris in Saint-Raphaël, by the ambassador of His Majesty the King in Paris, Samira Sitail.
This event is part of the cycle of commemorations with an international dimension organized throughout this year to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the landings. It pays tribute to the 350,000 men who landed on August 15, 1944 in Provence, the majority of whom were French and soldiers from African countries, including many Moroccans.
This memorial sequence was marked by tribute speeches and the decoration by President Macron of three veterans who fought alongside the Allies during the Second World War, including the Moroccan Larbi Jawa, made a Knight of the Legion of Honor.
