Colombian Hass avocado exports to the United States have reached historic figures in the first half of 2024, tripling compared to the same period of the previous year.
This remarkable growth, highlighted by the quality and reliability of the product, consolidates Colombia as a key player in the global avocado market.
Foreign Minister Luis Gilberto Murillo celebrated the success of exports, stating that “Colombia broke records in avocado exports. In the first half of 2024shipments to the United States have tripled, thanks to the growing demand and the quality of our avocados.” The foreign minister’s statement highlights the country’s solid position in a highly competitive and constantly expanding market.

For his part, Manuel Michel, general director of the Colombian Avocado Board (CAB), stressed that This increase in exports is directly related to the confidence in the quality of the Colombian Hass avocado.“This remarkable growth in demand for Colombian avocados in the United States highlights the improvement in the quality and reliability of our product and the confidence in production,” said Michel.
According to data from the Hass Avocado Board (HAB), which monitors the global industry of this product, The main American cities with the highest sales of Colombian Hass avocado are Miami, which leads with 15.98% of total sales, followed by Boston with 14.12%, Louisville with 9.55%, Cincinnati with 6.36% and Baltimore/Washington DC with 4.93%.
The United States Embassy in Colombia also joined the celebration, highlighting in a message on the social network X that “Colombian avocados are quickly becoming a staple product in the U.S. This increase reflects not only increased demand, but also Colombia’s strong position in the market, driven by quality and sustainable practices.”
