Today is a new anniversary since the birth of the superhero Tucumán. I agree with the literary tribute that LA GACETA paid him last Sunday, with excellent articles by Agustín Eugenio Acuña and Abel Novillo. And Alberdi’s ideas must be revised, in the complex reality of today’s Argentina, to move forward decisively. He clearly explains that the maxim in his book “Bases”, that is to rule, that is to say that it is to rule the community in the sense that people should be educated, improved, civilized , enrich and balance. When the will of men breaks the chains that keep him a prisoner, he is not yet free. Freedom is not only in the will, but also in intelligence and morality. An ignorant person is not free because he cannot. The blind are not people, as a group of men are not people, just as not everyone who lives in a nation is a citizen. Prosperous and healthy people whose genius and greatness depended not on the power of their government, but on the power and attitude of their individuals. Societies that expect their happiness from the hands of their rulers expect something that is contrary to nature. The most powerful and effective means of making society great is to leave to each individual the full responsibility and power to work out their personal upgrade. States are rich because of the labor of their individuals, and their labor bears fruit when man is free, that is, owner and master of his person, property, life, and home, respecting others in always. When the people of these societies need some work or improvement of the public welfare, their men look at each other, they look at each other, they meet, they discuss, they agree with their wills and they work on accomplishing the work required to see their mutual interests. . The character and distinctiveness that free and modern societies derived from the spirit and influence of Christianity, the source and basis of modern human freedom that changed the world. All these thoughts and ideas of Alberdi’s that I expressed took us on an upward and democratic path starting with the Constitution of 1853. Alberdi wanted to train citizens for the life of work, production and business. And today more than ever, all the threats to effort, merit and healthy competition compel us not to remain silent, not to give up, not to stop participating. And only in this way can we contribute to becoming a great Nation again, as Alberdi dreamed, and many other heroes who made Argentina more than a century ago, the most cultured nation in South America and one of the most successful in America. the world
