The former president responded to Yañez’s complaint, which claimed that Fernández used violence against her, did not take care of her two-year-old son, forced her to have an abortion and was unfaithful.

Alberto Fernández spoke out to refer to the accusations of gender violence against his ex-partner, Fabiola Yañez, completely ruling out having hit the former first lady of Argentina.

In an interview with El País of Spain, the former president responded to the complaint by Yañez, who claimed that Fernández exercised violence against her, he has not taken care of his two-year-old son, forced her to have an abortion and was unfaithful.

In response to this, the politician said that “I was president of this country for four years and I promoted gender policies and I know that in cases like this the burden of proof is reversed and the man is presumed guilty and has to prove his innocence. I will prove it.”

Asked about the WhatsApp conversations between his ex and his secretary, María Cantero, Fernández stressed that “the chats with Fabiola disappeared.”

“I have no way of corroborating what that entire conversation is like. “It is quite possible that I felt this way in certain circumstances because I felt suffocated and overwhelmed,” he argued.

Regarding not being financially responsible for the care of his son Francisco, Alberto Fernández was blunt: “All the income I have in Spain goes into an account that is in both of our names and that she manages.”

Fernández made it clear that “I am being accused of something I have not done. I have not hit Fabiola. I have never hit a woman”adding that “what I am going to do is wait, go to court and let court decide.”

“I repeat, I never used physical violence against Fabiola, or against any woman. “I don’t have the chat, I don’t know what the conversation is like, I don’t understand what she’s talking about when she says that I’ve been hitting her for three days. That never happened,” he said.
