Naval Force intercepts vessel loaded with war weapons and more than $30 million in drugs

The President of the Republic, Nayib Bukele, highlighted the actions of the Trident Naval Task Force of the National Navy, who intercepted another drug ship in Salvadoran waters.

President Bukele reported that on August 15, at 02:20 hours, 1,004 nautical miles southwest of Bocana El Cordoncillo, an Ecuadorian vessel with two crew members was located transferring 600 kg of cocaine to a Mexican boat.

The Mexican vessel was carrying the following heavy weapons: 12 AR-15 carbines, 20 AK-47 rifles, 1 M60 machine gun, 1 Barrett .50 sniper rifle, and magazines and ammunition.

“Just 15 minutes later, at 02:35 hours, a third boat with two Ecuadorians approached the same place, transporting another 600 kilograms of cocaine,” the Salvadoran president explained.

The Head of State highlights that the National Navy successfully intercepted the three vessels involved in this operation.

“The 1,200 kg of cocaine on the two Ecuadorian vessels have an estimated value of $30 million,” President Bukele announced.
