18.5 million pesos allocated for victims of Chalco

The municipality of ChalcoState of Mexico, announced a budget of 18.5 million to support the affected families for the floods, affecting at least thousand homes in the central, eastern and southern parts of the demarcation.

Municipal President Miguel Gutiérrez Morales toured the streets where the water has completely receded to supervise the work of cleaning the mud in the emergency zone that has lasted 27 days.

The mayor also reported that they will purchase and deliver packages of household appliances for each affected home. Each of these packages will include a refrigerator, a washing machine, a blender and a cleaning kit.

CENSUS OF VICTIMS SCHEDULED

He said that a census will be carried out in the next few days in coordination with the Ministry of Welfare, for which official modules will be installed in the affected colonies, once the evacuation of the water is completed.

“Of course, these additional expenses were not anticipated, but there was provision for citizens’ own tax resources that were already authorized by the council to support this contingency,” said the councilor.

The census scheduled for this Wednesday was suspended by state authorities.

This census would be part of the accounting of damages and material losses in the houses of the colonies Culturas de México, Jacalones, Tres Marías, Nueva San Miguel and Emiliano Zapata.
