In the second ruling of its kind this week, the Administrative Court in Tunisia announced today, Thursday, its acceptance of the appeal request submitted by former Minister Mondher Zenaidi, after his exclusion from the electoral commission, to rule his return to the presidential election race scheduled for October 6, 2024.

The spokesman for the Administrative Court, Faisal Bouguerra, said, “The Administrative Court, which is responsible for the second phase of litigation regarding disputes over candidacy for the presidential elections, ruled on Thursday to accept the appeal in form and substance submitted by Al-Mundhir Al-Zanaidi, and thus to cancel the decision of the Election Commission.”

On Tuesday, the same court approved the appeal submitted by former Ennahda Party leader Abdellatif Mekki against the rejection of his candidacy in the presidential elections.

The court also upheld the commission’s decision to exclude the head of the Free Constitutional Party, Abir Moussi, according to Bouguerra.

The Election Commission rejected Al-Zanaidi’s candidacy application, along with 12 others, due to the failure to meet the conditions for collecting endorsement signatures.

The final list will be announced next week, according to the Election Commission.

The electoral commission accepted the files of President Kais Saied, who is seeking a second term, and the head of the People’s Movement Party, Zuhair Al-Maghzawi.

It also approved the file of businessman and former MP Al-Ayachi Zemal, whose party is being prosecuted on charges of “forging” endorsement signatures.
