The Embassies of the United States of America and Canada have handed over radiocommunication equipment to the PNH

In order to provide support to the police institution, the Embassies of the United States of America and Canada have provided radiocommunication equipment to the PNH.

On Wednesday, August 28, 2024, the Haitian National Police (PNH), through its Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Rameau Normil, received a batch of radiocommunication equipment from the Embassies of the United States of America and Canada, the symbolic handover ceremony of this equipment took place at the Conference room of the General Directorate of the PNH, located in Clercine, commune of Tabarre.

During this ceremony, the Canadian Ambassador to Haiti, André François Giroux, declared that this approach aims to improve the operational capacity of the Haitian National Police while ensuring interoperability with the Multinational Security Support Mission.

Also speaking, the United States Ambassador to Haiti, Dennis Bruce Hankins, recalled that the United States is still positioning itself on Haiti’s side to help it emerge from this crisis situation currently undermined by insecurity. “According to him, this radiocommunication equipment will strengthen the capacity of Haitian police officers and those of the MMSS, particularly during operations. Further, he stressed that the Multinational Security Support Mission is not there to replace the PNH, but to help it,” the PNH emphasized in a note.

For his part, the Director General has PNHMr. Rameau NORMIL, affirmed that this ceremony of handing over of the equipment reveals a highly significant character, while expressing his deep thanks to the Ambassadors and their respective governments. According to him, these batches of radiocommunication equipment will strengthen the police institution, guardian of the ideals of peace, justice and public security.
