Chef Lee Yu-seok personally develops a children’s menu using Nokdong Eel, a trusted ingredient in Goheung-gun. On the 28th, Goheung-gun (Governor Gong Yeong-min) held an event at Nokdong Eel Street with food business owners in attendance, where expert chef Lee Yu-seok demonstrated eel dishes that children can enjoy.
This demonstration, which emphasized creative eel dishes tailored to children’s tastes and the use of healthy ingredients from Goheung, such as yuzu, is expected to bring a refreshing change to existing eel dishes.
After the demonstration, Chef Lee Yu-seok personally taught the recipes to the restaurant owners and shared cooking techniques and know-how needed for menu development. In particular, the consulting on developing customized menus that children would like, such as braised eel ribs, American BBQ eel, Chinese eel with chili sauce, sweet and sour eel sauce, and fried eel, received a great response from the restaurant owners.
At the post-event discussion, restaurant owners freely shared their opinions on ways to revitalize Nokdong Eel Street, and the opinions discussed here will be used as important data in setting the future development direction of Nokdong Eel Street.
A military official said, “This event will be an important turning point for the revitalization of Nokdong Eel Street,” adding, “In particular, we expect that by developing a children’s menu, we will increase the satisfaction of family visitors and greatly contribute to improving nutritional value and the image of the Nokdong Eel Street brand.”
Meanwhile, Chef Lee Yu-seok, who hosted the event that day, is currently working as a master chef for Ottogi, a leading food company in South Korea.
