Baghdad – WAA
The Palestinian Football Association confirmed, on Wednesday, that its national team’s match with its Jordanian counterpart will be held in Malaysia, as part of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
A statement by the Palestinian Football Association – received by the (INA) – said: “It received, during the past few days, a decision from the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) and the Asian Football Confederation to hold the match between the Palestinian and Jordanian national teams within the 2026 World Cup qualifiers at Faisal Al-Husseini Stadium in Palestine.”
According to the statement, the Federation expressed its “thanks to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, AFC President Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, and to the General Secretariat and working committees in the two federations for their efforts to organize the match in Palestine.”
He said, “On Tuesday, he received a message from the Asian and International Federations stating that it was impossible to hold the match in Palestine due to the lack of time and fear that the Zionist occupation would obstruct the arrival of the Jordanian brothers and also obstruct the entry of the technical staff assigned to supervise the match and the delegations of the Asian and International Federations. Therefore, we were forced to play this match only in Malaysia.”
He stressed that “arrangements are underway to host our national team’s second match in the qualifiers against its Kuwaiti counterpart on October 15 on Palestinian soil.”
