The Royal Speech, an explicit call to adopt civic behavior to enable the Kingdom to meet the challenge of its water security (university)

Marrakech – The speech delivered Monday by HM King Mohammed VI, on the occasion of the Throne Day, constitutes an explicit call to citizens to adopt behavior that will allow the Kingdom to meet the challenge related to its water security, said researcher and academic, Driss Lagrini.

In a statement to MAP, Mr. Lagrini explained that the messages contained in the Royal Speech are not only addressed to the actors, institutions and various stakeholders in the field of water, but also contain an explicit call to citizens to adopt responsible behavior in favor of rationalizing the use of this vital material.

The professor at Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech also stressed the call of HM the King to take all necessary urgent measures within the framework of the implementation of the components of the National Program for the Supply of Drinking Water and Irrigation.

Lagrini, in this sense, indicated that the Royal Speech also calls for the continued modernization of the mechanisms of national policy in this area, through the continuation of the construction of dams, the acceleration of the pace of implementation of major projects, particularly within the framework of the strategy of water transfer between hydraulic basins for the establishment of regional justice in this area, while ensuring the acceleration of the construction of seawater desalination plants.

The Speech of HM the King also mentioned the importance of taking into account the scientific dimension in dealing with this strategic issue, through the training of engineers and technicians, and the creation of companies specializing in the field, in order to further strengthen the efforts deployed and, therefore, meet this challenge of water security, he concluded.
