Red Star Belgrade Advances in Champions League with 2-0 Victory Over Bodo Glimt

by time news

Red Star defeated Bodo Glimt 2-0 and, combined with the result of the first leg (they lost 2-1), advanced to the League Phase of the Champions League.

Taking advantage of their “hot” home ground, Red Star beat the Norwegian Bodo Glimt 2-0 and progressed to the next stage of the top competition.

The Scandinavians, who did not significantly threaten their opponents, will continue in the League Phase of the Europa League.

From the first minute of the match, the hosts were much better and opened the scoring in the 26th minute from the penalty spot, with Brazilian Bruno Duarte as the executor.

Three minutes later, they nearly doubled the score, but Olajinka was unlucky as his header was deflected by Haikin, hit the crossbar, and was cleared.

After an hour of play, Red Star won a corner taken by Elnisik, and the forward Spajic jumped higher than anyone else, headed the ball, and scored to make it 2-0.

The sight of a kneeling Vladan Milosevic – coach of the Serbians – crying on the wet pitch of the “Marakana” at the end of the match is perhaps the most powerful image from the Belgrade encounter.
