Actress Baek Su-ryeon (84) revealed the story of how she was in debt of 10 billion won due to real estate fraud and business failure.

MBN’s entertainment show ‘Dongchimi’ released a video titled ‘My husband got Parkinson’s because of me?! Was the stress of being scammed the cause?’ on the 28th.

In the video, Baek Su-ryeon said, “She is a woman who makes a lot of mistakes. She is more clumsy than you might think and listens to others well. She started her acting career in the late 50s. That’s how she met her husband, Kim In-tae.”

He continued, “I ended up committing a crime. As I started earning some money, people with dark hearts started to come around me. People in our lineage didn’t know better and were innocent. I thought they would be like me and gave them everything, which is how it turned out.”

Baek Su-ryeon explained, “I was first scammed when I bought land, then I was scammed in the aesthetics business. I joined hands with a doctor of Oriental medicine and suffered huge losses. I also failed to use my son’s house as collateral as a guarantee.”

“The problem is, should I say that Kim In-tae is great or stupid? He didn’t say a word to me. He was seething inside. One day, while I was hiding and reorganizing my debt, I was caught (by my husband). That’s when I started saying that we should quickly reorganize my debt. The amount was huge. Later, it went up to 10 billion won,” she said. “I don’t even turn my head to Gonjiam, where I bought the land.”

Baek Su-ryeon confessed, “(My husband) Kim In-tae has Parkinson’s disease, which is a neurological disease. There are hundreds of types of Parkinson’s disease. When I first went to the hospital, they didn’t even give me a diagnosis.” She recalled, “(After) almost a year, they said it was ‘neurogenic Parkinson’s disease.’ I was heartbroken by the diagnosis that he had been under a lot of stress. From then on, I faced a huge ordeal.”

Baek Su-ryeon said, “I didn’t have any money, so I sold everything I had and paid off my debts like that. I wasn’t even working. I started a restaurant and other businesses to make money, but I lost a lot of money there.”

“In a situation where I couldn’t pay off my debts even after paying them off, I ended up going through the IMF crisis. My house was auctioned off. While I was paying off my debts, my husband became weak and stopped smiling. His expression became hard. I thought I had to come to my senses, so I ran a store and went to Gwangju, Jeolla Province, three times a week,” she recalled.

At that time, Baek Su-ryeon worked hard to take care of her husband while running the store. “After finishing the business, I went to Gwangju to take care of my husband. I did my best, but he went to heaven. He was sick for 11 years. When my husband was very sick, the hospital bills were huge, but he didn’t have insurance. He had to hire a caregiver in his solitary cell, so the debt kept piling up. Kim In-tae must have had a hard time mentally, but I had a hard time physically. I still have a few hundred million won in debt, but I plan to think of the 300 million won or so as a source of energy in life,” she said.

Baek Su-ryeon also expressed her regret to her son. “My son is working as a theater actor, but he spent 13 years of his youth as a bad credit debtor. He is a sinner to our son. That is why he is not getting married. I think he thinks his mother thinks, ‘Women get into trouble,’” she said, expressing her regret.

Baek Su-ryeon’s detailed story will be revealed on the broadcast at 11 PM on the 31st.
