TRAI had directed telecom companies to work on stopping promotional SMS. Also, a deadline of September 1 was set to stop it. But now there has been a lot of change in it. Because the deadline date has been extended. Earlier it was to be implemented from September 1, 2024. On the demand of access service providers and other stakeholders, the regulator has decided to extend this deadline. But now it has been extended for 30 days and the date of October 1, 2024 has been fixed.
TRAI is continuously taking decisions-
Operators are constantly being given orders by the telecom regulator. Actually, TRAI wants to work on stopping spam and fake calls as soon as possible. This is also going to cause a lot of trouble to people. TRAI had said, if any entity misuses its SIP/PRI lines to make spam calls, then all telecom resources of the entity will be disconnected by its telecom service provider (TSP) and the entity will be blacklisted.
The ban will be imposed from October 1-
Earlier this order was to come into effect from 1 September 2024, but now it has been changed. Telecom operators are already working on this. Now it has changed. Telecom operators had asked for some time from TRAI. Now this time has been changed and it has been done till 1 October 2024. TRAI has put its order on hold for a month. Actually, TRAI had taken this decision in view of the increasing cases of scam. TRAI had said in its order, no such SMS will be allowed to be delivered, which contains such spam URL / APK links, which are not included in the whitelist.
Messages related to banks, financial institutes and e-commerce firms are sent to mobile users. Many fake messages are also sent in this which are very disturbing. Along with this, banking details of the users are also stolen, due to which financial fraud happens with them.
