The Italian champion Inter turned their match against Europa League holder, Atalanta, into a one-sided affair, winning 4-0 at “Meazza” during the 3rd round of Serie A.
The match with Atalanta, which opened the program of the 3rd round of Serie A, was on paper the first strong test for Inter this season, but the Italian champions transformed it into a walk in the park on Friday night (30/8).
The Nerazzurri took control of the match from the first ten minutes, gaining a two-goal advantage with an own goal from Djimsiti and a masterpiece shot from Barella from the edge of the penalty area, and since then they did not allow the Dea to question their superiority at any point.
Moreover, in the second half, the hosts’ task became even easier, with Thuram taking advantage of the tragic defensive play of Gasperini’s team and punishing them twice within 10 minutes (47′ 56′), thereby sealing the second victory for the Nerazzurri in the first three rounds.
- INTER: Sommer, Pavard, Acerbi, Bastoni (61′ Augusto), Darmian, Barella (79′ Fratezi), Calhanoglu (61′ Asllani), Mkhitaryan, Dimarco, Thuram (79′ Taremi), Martinez (83′ Arnautovic)
