Speech from the Throne: The use of technological solutions in the field of water requires the mobilization of all research institutions (expert)
Oujda – The implementation of technological solutions in the field of water, mentioned in the speech addressed Monday by HM King Mohammed VI to the Nation on the occasion of the Throne Day, requires the mobilization of all institutions concerned by research and innovation programs, said the expert in agricultural science and engineering, Kamal Aberkani.
In a statement to MAP, Mr. Aberkani, who is also a professor at the Multidisciplinary Faculty of Nador under the Mohammed 1st University of Oujda, stressed the importance of digitalization, genetic transformation and good agricultural practices.
He noted that Morocco has several institutions active in the field of agricultural research and institutes specialized in hydrology and hydraulics, capable of accelerating the overall system of scientific research in these fields.
He stressed that it is time to impose the use of drought-resistant seeds and the adoption of laws banning water-intensive seeds, specifying that the digital technology in which Morocco is engaged is capable of accelerating the implementation of projects programmed by the State, such as the desalination of sea water and the construction of dams.
In this regard, the researcher emphasized the importance of these projects for the achievement of water security and food sovereignty.
