jpnn.comJAKARTA – Executive Director of the Advocacy Institute (AI) Fadli Rumakefing reminded that corruption in Indonesia, especially in the state administration environment, both ministries and institutions, has increasingly threatened all aspects of social and national life.

Therefore, he assessed that the ratification of the Asset Confiscation Bill must be immediately ratified by the DPR.

“Corruption has brought a great catastrophe to the future of the nation and destroyed the noble ideals since the country was fought for and freed from colonization and oppression by foreign nations at that time,” said Fadli Rumakefing in his statement, Friday (30/8).

Fadli also emphasized that corruption is a social crime against humanity that has very negative implications for the progress of the country in the economic, social and cultural sectors.

He said that in the last few decades, there has been a social phenomenon in Indonesia with the increase in the wealth of state administrators, both state civil servants (ASN) and political positions in ministries/state institutions drastically and fantastically, the result of acts of corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN).

According to the notes delivered by President Jokowi at the Peak of the 2023 World Anti-Corruption Day (Hakordia) Commemoration, since 2004-2022, there were 344 state administrators who were imprisoned for corruption, including 344 leaders and members of the DPR and DPRD, including the Speaker of the DPR and also the Speaker of the DPRD.

“There are 38 ministers and heads of institutions. There are 24 governors and 162 district heads and mayors. There are 31 judges, including constitutional judges. There are 8 commissioners, including commissioners from the KPU, KPPU, and KY. And there are also 415 from the private sector and 363 from bureaucrats,” explained Fadli.

Therefore, Fadli emphasized the importance of the Asset Confiscation Bill must be taken seriously and completed for the sake of eradicating corruption in Indonesia. Given that Indonesia is now in a corruption emergency situation.
