The “Summer Schools” program, funded by the Moroccan Cultural Center Association and supervised by the “Children’s Club for Al-Quds”, benefited 4,000 Maqdessi children in several schools in the city and 14 centers and associations, spread across all the neighborhoods of the holy city and the surrounding villages according to a choice based on compliance with safety and security standards, in order to provide the beneficiary children, aged 6 to 14, with a stimulating environment that allows them to release their energy and reveal their talents in the fields of sports and art, through 150 art, theater and balance and intelligence games workshops, supervised by professional trainers.
This year, the “Summer Schools” program focused on varied activities to build the child’s personality by instilling in him the values of integrity, perseverance and respect for family, traditions and local identity.
The programme also included the launch of holiday and scouting camps, particularly for people with special needs, and a specialist camp for a group of architecture students from Al-Quds and Birzeit universities.
This program included the neighborhoods of the old city of Al-Quds, namely, Bab Hatta, Harat Saadia, Aqabat Al-Saraya, Harat Al-Nassara and Souk Al-Hasr. Also, the program activities were carried out in the neighborhoods of Silouan, Rass Al-Aamoud, Sheikh Jarrah, Beit Hanina, Wad Al-Jouz, Jabal Mukaber, Sur Baher, as well as the camp of Chaafat, village of the prophet Samuel and village Anata.
The summer camp program is also marked by sports and recreational activities, such as basketball, interactive workshops and animation and entertainment sessions, under the supervision of specialized instructors.
The children thus benefited from workshops on protection mechanisms in emergency situations, as well as training in best practices in fire management and first aid, in addition to workshops dedicated to communication with society and the environment, good practices for preserving the environment and the natural balance and the appreciation of individual and collective responsibility in the living environment.
