/ The management of Al-Najaf Sports Club announced, on Thursday, that it received a sudden resignation from the Egyptian coach Hamza Al-Hamal from leading its football team, indicating that it had agreed with the Iraqi coach Abdul-Ghani Shahad.
The club’s financial secretary, Ali Hashem, told Shafak News Agency, “The administration had agreed with Al-Jamal to go to Egypt to enjoy a vacation after the league competitions were suspended and then return to complete the journey, but he surprised us by apologizing for completing the mission because he was unable to continue due to bad luck with the team.”
He said, “The Najaf administration approached coach Abdul Ghani Shahad to take over the task and lead Najaf football for the remainder of the Iraqi Premier League, and reached a semi-final agreement with him.”
Hashem explained that “the administration will meet with Shahd this evening to complete the final agreement and sign the contract.”
Najaf is ranked 13th with 13 points after the end of the 12th round of the Iraqi Premier League.
