NEW YORK. “Come on Julia, you will make it“. In the midst of the US Open, Jannik Sinner finds time to remember those who, as a passionate tennis player and instructor, are struggling to recover after a serious accident: the world number one has sent a video message to Giulia Gardanifrom Cremona who was hit by a car a year ago during her honeymoon in New York and who has since then been struggling with surgical operations and daily rehabilitation to improve her health conditions, in a complicated attempt to recover from a tetraplegia that could also be reversible.
“Her message of encouragement was truly a wonderful and unexpected surprise, special and exciting,” says the 35-year-old, who is really doing her best to recover the use of her limbs and not be forced to definitively shelve her great love for tennis, which led her to become a federal instructor. One of her role models is Sinner: “Hi Giulia, I’m sorry for everything that happened to you. Know that I’m close to youI send you a big hug and maybe we’ll see each other soon”, Jannik promised.
