The national sailing team player, Youssef Faras, won the silver medal for Iraq in the Benghazi International Optimist Boat Championship.
The head of the Iraqi Sailing Federation, Tahseen Ali Al-Hassoun, said in a statement received by the (INA): “The championship, which was hosted by the Galiana Beach, was competed in by players representing seven countries: Iraq, Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, Sudan, and the Seychelles Islands, in addition to the Libyan national team, the host country of the championship.”
Al-Hassoun added, “The players presented promising levels, crowned by their colleague Yousef Firas winning the silver medal despite the fierce competition he faced in the race, pointing out that “the silver medal achieved by our player has a positive impact on the players of the game, praising the role of the Olympic Committee in embracing and supporting the activities and events of the Federation and its great keenness to continue the development of the Federation’s work, and supporting it in developing and spreading the game in all governorates.”
