A group of teachers of Bangladesh Textile University (Butex) raised various complaints against the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shah demanded Alimuzzaman’s resignation. On Sunday (September 1), they are holding a sit-in program for this demand in the university premises.
At this time, various kinds of placards were seen in their hands, including ‘We want non-discriminatory Butex’, ‘We want the resignation of factional, corrupt vice-chancellor’, ‘We want the resignation of vice-chancellor who destroys student-teacher relationship’, ‘We want the resignation of vice-chancellor who is a friend of Awami tyranny’.
Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Statistics. Kawsarul Islam said, we did not stand against any person here. We stand against discrimination. We want to change the system of Butex. We hope that whoever comes in as the new Vice-Chancellor, he will lead the University in a sound direction.
Among the teachers who demanded the resignation of the Vice-Chancellor, the head of the Department of Wet Process Engineering, Dr. Julhas Uddin, Associate Professor Dr. Sheikh Md. Mamun Kabir, Head of Department of Textile Machine Design and Maintenance Professor Dr. Md. Mominul Alam (Dalim), Dean of Fashion Design and Apparel Engineering Faculty. Md. Moshiur Rahman Khan, Dean of the Faculty of Textile Management and Business Studies. Md. Masum, Professor of Industrial and Production Engineering Department. Muhammad Ali, Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Statistics. Kawsarul Islam and others.
Before this, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. On August 25, the teachers gathered for the first time regarding the resignation of Shah Alimuzzaman. On that day, ordinary students protested against these teachers. The next day, on August 27, the teachers held a press conference and demanded the resignation of the vice-chancellor, alleging various problems and inconsistencies in the university. In view of this, on August 28, a discussion meeting was held between students and teachers in the contemporary situation. On this day, in the presence of students of different batches of the university, the charges brought against the vice-chancellor were refuted.
Later, on August 30, a group of teachers issued a joint statement demanding the resignation of the vice-chancellor. In the collective statement of the teachers, the vice-chancellor raised allegations of irregularities, corruption, factionalism, tyranny and various misdeeds.
