The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) reported that the MS gang members were sentenced to up to 84 years in prison for the crimes of extortion, aggravated homicide and illicit associations.

“Héctor Manuel Rodríguez Alférez, a MS runner, has been sentenced to 84 years in prison for the crimes of extortion, aggravated homicide and illicit associations. Other gang members also received prison sentences of 65, 44 and 33 years,” the FGR said.

According to the FGR, the defendants committed crimes in different areas of San Marcos and San Salvador and between 2008 and 2017 they extorted merchants in downtown San Salvador. The payments they received ranged from $20 to $70 dollars per month in exchange for continuing to sell in the area.

“All of them belong to the Zuritas Locos Salvatruchos, Diabolical Mafiosos Locos Salvatruchos, Octubres Little Zayco and Hollywood Locos Salvatruchos cliques, from the San Marcos and San Salvador programs,” the FGR indicated.
