Decision of the General Assembly of doctors of the Nice Hospital – Newspaper PRI

by time news
With a unanimous decision, the General Assembly of doctors of the Nice-Piraeus Hospital characterizes the plan for daily general on-call of the hospital and other hospitals as disastrous, effectively turning it into… “weekly” which will have the consequence of tragically degrading both the quality and quantity of the Health services provided to patients. As they emphasize, if the plan to overturn this exterminating for the workers vigilance plan for the G.N of Niceas is not withdrawn immediately, the workers will go on permanent strike mobilizations.

The decision of the hospital doctors in detail

Nice, 2/9/24

He returns in an official way (through the commander of the 2her HYPE) the “plan” for daily general on-call of our hospital (in various possible ways) and other hospitals.

This “plan” is disastrous. Due to the tragic shortages of health and other personnel (but also given the non-existence of public Primary Health Care which necessarily leads many patients to the emergency rooms of hospitals next to the truly serious emergencies and for which no measure is taken to strengthen it) with a thousand and two difficulties and with superhuman efforts we manage to respond to the volume of emergencies we have today with general duty 8am – 8am every fourth day. Additionally, the hospitals of Attica that belong to the 2or HYPE has been in charge of almost all serious emergencies on the islands for years. In the past, it has been proven that by implementing a regime of “morning” – “afternoon” general duty alternately, this volume multiplies intolerably. That is precisely why the same authorities at the time who tried to establish this regime had retreated and suspended it within just a few days after the protests of the doctors and other workers of our hospital who had documented with concrete figures the additional on-call overload. Besides, in the big hospitals of 1her HE the vicarage plan that is in force there has created far more problems than it has solved.

The pursuit is twofold. It goes without saying that the hospital will instantly turn into an “on-call” like the old “Regulatory”. Health services provided to patients will be tragically degraded in both quality and quantity. There will clearly be minimal scope for routine medical procedures. This comes to “bind” with the recent “Georgiadis legislative measures” for “private work outside the hospital”. If this change is implemented in the “plan” of hospital vigilance, then in the large public hospital (in this case the Nice hospital) there will practically be room only for urgent medical procedures as well as for long-hour demanding medical procedures (e.g. major surgeries) which for obvious reasons they cannot be done in a private clinic. Private clinicians ARE EXACTLY INTERESTED IN THIS “TURNOVER”: for the large “mass” of intermediate scheduled medical procedures. These yield the greatest “profit” for the clinician (always out of the patient’s pocket of course). Not the urgent ones, nor the long hours – demanding ones. After all, it has been proven that everything the political leadership of the Ministry of Health does in this regard is aimed at: the increase of private “business” speculation at the expense of patients, at the expense of healthcare providers, at the expense of the training of specialists, generally at the expense of the social majority and at the expense of today and tomorrow of Medicine in our country.

We warn that if the “plan” to overturn today’s on-call schedule for our hospital is not withdrawn IMMEDIATELY, we will immediately proceed to permanent strike actions (for which we request coverage from EINAP, OENGE, Piraeus Medical Association) in coordination (through our representatives who will appointed by the general assembly) with the colleagues of other hospitals which are also affected.

We demand the immediate coverage of all medical, other health and other staff vacancies with permanent recruitment according to needs.

The above will be made public, communicated to the management of 2her Ministry of Health (there is a scheduled meeting with EINAP on 4/9/24), to the political leadership of the Ministry of Health and to all agencies.

We are proceeding to a new general assembly on Thursday 5/9/24 at 1:30 p.m. to assess the developments (after the meeting of EINAP – administration 2her Ministry of Health on 4/9/24) and to specifically identify our competitive mobilizations if the implementation of the “plan” is not suspended.
