It is news. After several weeks of increasing concern about the sale of drugs in the daylight, the residents of La Reformita, in zone 12, in Guatemala City, decided to act. As a result of their complaints, elements of the National Civil Police (PNC) carried out an operation at an address marked by the public as the epicenter of this illegal activity.
- As a result of the police action, which took place on the night of Saturday, August 31, prohibited substances were found and two people were arrested. Also found were 98 crack capsules and 53 cocaine capsules, distributed in “fangs” and blister packs. In addition, GTQ 2,750 in cash and two mobile phones were seized.
- The detainees were identified as Francisco “N”, aged 36, and Fernanda “N”, aged 30, who now face charges for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
- This incident is part of a wider context of the fight against crime in the capital, where 504 arrests were made across the country during the last week of August, of which 198 took place in the capital. 75 of these were related to extortion cases, which showed the constant effort of the authorities to fight different types of crime.
