/ Turkish media revealed, on Thursday, that a gunman had taken employees of the American company “Procter & Gamble” located in northwestern Turkey as hostages “in protest against the Israeli attacks in Gaza.”

The American Alhurra TV station reported, quoting the Turkish DHA Agency, that the authorities are continuing to try to convince the gunman to release the hostages, who number seven people.

According to the Haber Turk website, the person is unidentified and entered the main building of the company’s factory in Gebze, Kocaeli province, carrying a gun.

Users posted a photo of him on social media, but Alhurra was unable to verify it.

The photo shows the person wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh around his neck, wearing a device that looks like an explosive device and carrying a pistol.

The image also shows the phrase “The doors to Gaza will open. Either prayer or death,” and the gunman also drew the Turkish flag and the Palestinian flag.

Kocaeli Governor Sedar Yavuz went to the factory and received information from the teams, according to Haber Turk.

Special operations police were also directed to the front of the Procter & Gamble plant.

Hurriyet newspaper added that the street where the factory is located has been closed to vehicles and pedestrians.
