The international payment system MasterCard blocked a number of financial institutions from accessing the payment network as a result of sanctions orders against Russia. Reuters writes about this on March 1.

Earlier, on February 26, Otkritie Bank received a notification from the international payment system Mastercard about the suspension of membership in the payment system.

On the same day, RBC sources said that Mastercard sent out notifications to banks that fell under US blocking sanctions to suspend their participation in the system. So, it is suspended from 16:00–17:00 (Moscow time) on February 26.

In the suspension notice to one of the banks, it is reported that the decision was made due to violations of the rules of the payment system, since banks should not harm the reputation of the “signs” (Mastercard payment system).
